EU project

UAB Ecobiofilm implements the project No. 13.1.1-LVPA-K-856-01-0020 “Development of an innovative EСOBIOFILM film prototype and its production technology” financed by the EU structural funds – EU Regional development fund.

Funding for the implementation of the project was provided in accordance with priority 13 of the 2014-2020 European Union Funds Investment action program “Promotion of actions to overcome the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and preparation for environmentally friendly, digital and sustainable economic revitalization”. The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund. Funded as part of the European Union’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the project, it is planned to create prototypes of innovative regenerated cellulose film and its production technology.

UAB Ecobiofilm was established in 2019. and plans to develop an innovative and environmentally friendly technology to replace the currently dominant supply of polyethylene packaging materials on the market. The research and experimental development carried out during the project would create a new technological process for the production of biodegradable cellulose packaging and thus contribute to the goals of sustainable development of the European Union and creation of a “green” economy.

Project title – Development of an innovative ECOBIOFILM film prototype and its production technology.

The aim of the project is to conduct research to develop prototypes of regenerated cellulose film and its production technology. The innovative film wil be cust from cellulose solutions in phosphoric acid. ECOBIOFILM will become a new generation cellulose packaging material with great potential for growth and use, as it would replace the polyethylene film currently widely used on the market, which is extremely harmful to nature.

During the implementation of the project, a new innovative product will be created – a film with unique properties, which will be a substitute for the polyethylene film, kraft paper and cellophane currently on the market. This innovative product will fill a niche that is emerging primarily in the European market due to stricter ecological requirements. It will also be attractive to the target users due to its unique features, i.e. complete degradation.

R&D activities performed during the project and the results obtained during them, as well as the developed product will be commercialized in Lithuanian and foreign markets. The planned sales in these markets will increase the company’s turnover and encourage investment and continuation of R&D activities in order to develop new technologies and products.

The project activities are planned to be completed on September 1, 2023.
